Ed Meyer for Kanab City Council
NEW TRICKS
One way Ed is different from most old dogs is that he learns
new tricks all of the time and applies the lessons he has
learned in innovative ways to help his constituency.

1. Knows rural best practices from more than 20 years working with rural
communities

2. History of leveraging state and federal grant funds (more than $3,000,000)

3. Received award from President Bush for America’s Most Innovative
Economic Development Initiative in 2002

4. Helped Kane County businesses receive more than $250,000 in state
incentives

5. Brought team of entrepreneur support resources to common table to help
Kane County businesses in conjunction with Kanab Entrepreneur Forum

6. One of only six individuals to be awarded the prestigious “Friend of Rural
Utah” award for the ability to create partnerships and deliver services to rural
Utah

7. Responsible for creating a coalition of Kane County towns and the Kane
County Commission to receive state designation as a county-wide
Enterprise Zone, the only county in the state to have the entire county so
designated.  This designation makes county farms, ranches, mines and
businesses eligible for tax credits that could easily amount to hundreds of
thousands of dollars in state income tax savings.
